Project description
This PhD will build on previous pioneering studies from our group, which have shown the clinical results of minimally-invasive non-surgical therapy (MINST) and how they are mediated by molecular changes in inflammatory and repair biomarkers.
The Periodontology and Periodontal Medicine Group at King’s College London has one open PhD position which offers the great opportunity to investigate MINST. The PhD project will cover the clinical application of MINST to extreme cases of advanced periodontal intrabony defects, including molecular and microbiological analyses to try and understand how to maximise its efficacy. The successful candidate will benefit from established collaborations with national and international research partners who will provide further support.
Person specification
We will consider applications from prospective students with a good biomedical, microbiology, biology, dental, medical or similar degree (minimum of a 2:1).
Research training
Candidates will develop and enhance their skills and knowledge in clinical research, research governance, immunology, microbiology and wound healing.
