Impact

How do you measure impact? For some it will be the impact of a piece of research on a global stage, for others it will be our impact on changes in society, or it will be our impact on shaping dental education. The question that shapes all our interpretations of impact is always: ‘how will this research or education help make the world a better place?'

The impact of our research reinforces our position as a world-leader in dentistry, oral and craniofacial sciences. We’re equally successful at finding ways to turn research into practical solutions that make a difference to society through improvements in health, economy, environment or culture.

We recognise that this isn’t something we can do alone. We aim to make as profound an impact as possible by working with partners from industry, government, policy, and health services. Not just in London, but by building global networks.

Academic Lead for Impact: Dr Ciro Chiappini

'Impact is now rightly regarded as an integral part of research excellence. It is important to appreciate that broader impact links beyond the research enterprise to also include education, service and working with external partners to facilitate beneficial changes across society.'
