The Dental Alumni Association was established in 2002 with the aim to encourage and provide opportunities for past dental students and staff to meet and keep in touch with each other, current students and with staff within the faculty and Dental Hospitals of the overarching Dental Institute of King’s Health Partners.
The Dental Institute is proud of its alumni, and is in regular contact with over 7,000 dental graduates from the current and former schools including Guy's Hospital Dental School, King's College Hospital Dental School, the Royal Dental Hospital Dental School and the United Medical Dental Schools.
Dental alumni frequently return to the Dental Institute for class reunions and social events, and every year the Dental Alumni Association organises a popular professional development event for alumni; the Dental Alumni Weekend.
Dental Alumni Weekend 7 - 8 March 2025
I am really excited to welcome you to my last Alumni weekend as President of KCL Dental Alumni Association. I hope to see many friends of old and also to welcome some new faces, too. Registration and bookings will open in early January and the booking form will be accessible here.
To book for all events at the Dental Alumni Weekend please access the booking form here:
Please note this is a fairly new format and you may need to amend your clinical diaries to join us on the Friday! In addition this meeting is held jointly with the Hygienist and Therapists Section.
The theme of this year’s Alumni Weekend is “Beyond the Smile.”
We are grateful to Neoss who are the main sponsors for the weekend. Neoss will be running hands-on workshops on Dental Implant planning and use of scanners, on Friday morning and on Saturday afternoon. Further details of this will be provided in due course but you can register your interest in attending one of these sessions on the booking registration form. The session will be free to those who have registered to attend scientific sessions on Friday or Saturday of the rest of the meeting
The Staff and Alumni Drinks Reception and Annual Dental Dinner will take place on Friday evening 7th March, at the Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel, 5 More London Riverside, Tooley Street, London SE1 2BY. This promises to be an exciting evening with the usual excellent meal, prize giving, and entertainment. We particularly look forward to welcoming reunion groups who qualified 10, 20, 25 and 30 years ago. The dress code is Black Tie (optional), with guests and partners warmly welcome to join us.
The Dental Alumni Weekend two-day programme commences at 13:30 on Friday 7th March in the Function Room and concludes Saturday 8th March in the Tower Lecture Theatre in Guy’s Tower. This year’s programme includes the Keynote lectures from Professor Amal Johal, Professor Peter Brennan, Mr Anish Shah, Dr Federico Amati & Professor Mark Ide.
There will also be the opportunity to hear from our Executive Dean, Professor Michael Escudier on updates at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences and tours of clinical teaching facilities , including hands on demonstrations of our Haptics Teaching facilities. Delegates attending the Clinical Day will receive CPD certificates reflecting their participation, with separate certificates provided for the sessions on each day.
Complete details of the whole programme can abe access by the links below.
The Dental Alumni Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting to which all alumni are invited.
Lunch will again be hosted by our Executive Dean, providing guests with an opportunity to meet Professor Escudier, whilst networking with fellow alumni and staff.
For those unable to attend the meeting in person, the main sessions from Clinical Day, 8th March 2025, will be streamed live. All registrants will also be able to access this online material at their leisure for up to 4 weeks after the event.
