Serving & connecting
The project will pair 8 artists and designers with PhD students from across the Dental Institute. The PhD students will provide a mind map which explains their research from which their paired creative partner will be challenged to respond. Creative partners are encouraged to interpret the project as they like but we suggest their response should not be purely descriptive. The degree of collaboration between the pairs will be up to the individuals but teamwork will be encouraged.
We hope to include artists and designers working in a range of mediums for example, paint, photography, textiles, graphic design etc, to partner with PhD students that cover a breadth of research. Primarily a pop-up exhibition will be used to showcase the project. An instagram account will also be used to follow the development of the project and after the exhibition used for dissemination and expansion of the venture.
This project is a collaboration between King's College London's Department of Microbiology and a collection of artists. It is supported by the university's Culture team as part of the Early Career Researchers scheme.
