I am currently in Germany, where we are still in lockdown, but things are starting to open up. This time made me appreciate again all those small things that I usually take for granted - not because I currently can’t enjoy and hence miss them, but because of the exact opposite as I finally have time to notice them again.
For instance, a group project developed into a highlight of my week, as me and my fellow group members institutionalized a weekly entire-day Skype meeting during which we work together and can immediately share our thoughts, almost as if we were in a room together. Seeing the faces and hearing the voices of my friends, having a routine, being productive, and especially always cheering each other up and encouraging each other really helps me during these times. This experience made me appreciate the value of teamwork, as much more light is shed on the social aspect of a team. It showed me how valuable it is to not work alone but to have people on my side working for the same goal as I am and who encourage me to not give up.
It was initially hard, frustrating, and lonely to adjust but by now I want to maintain this mindset of focusing instead of always being afraid of missing out
