Our recommended technologies are supported by King’s College London and/or are recommended to enhance learning and teaching provision. They are all accessible to staff and students using a King's username and password, via the Software Center. Where possible, integration with KEATS (Moodle) has been made. With specialists in CTEL, we can direct you to a range of support, guidance and training to facilitate the pedagogical application of these tools, but the core tools remain our priority. These technologies are supported by a range of services in King’s.
- IT Support: Mostly supported by IT Service Desk, as all technologies can be downloaded or accessed for free using King’s credentials. Some technologies are supported by other departments. Contact ctel@kcl.ac.uk for further details.
- Pedagogical Guidance: Proactive engagement with King’s community concentrating on the enhancement of learning and teaching and collation of case studies.
- Training: Face-to-face sessions and webinars for some technologies and self-guided content available for most. Bespoke co-design and delivery in collaboration with faculties and departments is considered.

Box of Broadcasts (BoB)
BoB is Learning on Screen’s on demand TV and radio service for education. The academically-focused system allows staff and students at King's College London to record programmes from over 65 free-to-air channels, and search the extensive archive of over 2 million broadcasts.,

Camtasia
Camtasia Studio is a screen recording and video editing software. It helps you create professional videos without having to be a video professional. You can easily record your screen, or import HD video from a camera or other source.
You can edit content both on Mac and Windows platforms, and share your videos with viewers on nearly any device.

H5P (Moodle plugin)
H5P is a way to add the latest version of web contents. It technically stands for implementation of the 5th version of the language of the web (HTML). H5P allows you to easily and quickly create rich interactive content in KEATS, without the need for a developer, enabling you to create interactive content like Interactive Videos, Presentations, Games, Quizzes and more!

LinkedIn Learning is the updated version of Lynda's online training library with thousands of high quality, current and engaging video tutorials free to King's staff and students. Building on Lynda's extensive library of content with a new user-centric interface. Mahara e-Portfolio
The King's ePortfolio (Mahara) system is an extension of a paper-based portfolio, bringing with it the benefit of being portable and shareable anywhere that you have Internet access.
An e-portfolio has a much broader scope as an online collection of reflections and digital artefacts such as documents, images, blogs, resumés, multimedia, hyperlinks and contact information.
The King’s e-portfolio service is based on the Mahara open source software.

Microsoft Office 365
All King's staff and students have a Microsoft 365 account. This gives us access to email, calendar, Teams and a wide range of other tools including the basic Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Microsoft 365 also provides us with tools for document storage, this includes OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams.
The various tools are designed for specific purposes, and they work seamlessly together to help you achieve your goals. All you need to do is ensure you are using the right tool for the right job.
Microsoft 365 is cloud based, meaning you can access the tools from any computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone as long as you are connected to the internet.

OneNote Class Notebook
OneNote Class Notebook Creator lets a teacher quickly set up a personal workspace for every student, a content library for handouts, and a collaboration space for lessons and creative activities, all within one powerful notebook.

Mentimeter (Student Response System)
Mentimeter is a tool that allows instant feedback from students to a lecturers questions. It is an audience response system that takes responses from students via mobile phones and the web. Mentimeter is new for September 2024 and replaces Poll Everywhere. Poll Everywhere will be decomissioned and unavailable for use by Summer 2025.
Responses are displayed in real-time in lectures and it can also be used to generate questions or other text responses on a projector screen. It is a system that can generate interest and stimulate discussion and ensure learner engagement in a classroom setting.

Turnitin
Turnitin allows learners to submit their assignments to an online platform that checks whether their submission cites sources correctly and is formatted using the appropriate referencing and style guidelines to avoid issues around plagiarism.
The Turnitin Feedback Studio service matches text from student assignments against its extensive database of previously submitted student coursework, websites and academic papers. Turnitin’s similarity check produces a similarity report and a percentage match score for detecting potential plagiarism and deterring it. King's College London currently uses Turnitin Feedback Studio with the KEATS (Moodle) integration.
