Music List

The College Chapel sits at the heart of King's and continues to provide a crucial spiritual focus for the King’s community, with regular services and as a quiet space. King’s has a great choral tradition, and The Choir, now an up-to-30-strong scholarship choir led by our Director of Music, Dr Joseph Fort, sing each week in Chapel during term time:

  • Choral Evensong: every Tuesday during term time, commencing at 17h30. This service is principally sung by the Choir and includes an Introit, the Psalm, Canticles and an Anthem (see Current Music List below for details). The service also includes a hymn which all are invited to sing, two scripture readings and prayers. Many people find that this provides a space in which to be still; to allow those thoughts and feelings, which are otherwise suppressed by a busy life, to come closer to us than life outside allows; and to catch a vision of God's glory in the beauty of holiness.

  • Wednesday College Chapel Service: every Wednesday during term time, commencing at 13h10. Usually, we have a sung Church of England Eucharist, or Holy Communion service and music during the services is sung by the Choir. We have a varied pattern of worship this semester which will include full Mass settings without sermons, traditional Eucharist services with sermons, interactive services and said services (see  Wednesday College Chapel Service and Current Music List below for details).
