In globally competitive graduate employment market, gaining professional experience alongside your studies can give you an edge. Our year in industry courses are designed to help you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained through your studies to real business challenges.

A Year in Industry option is available to students on the following courses:

Placements normally range between 9-12 months and take place in your third year between June and the following September before you return to King’s for final year.

Placement salaries range depending on the organisation, sector and country, but generally range between £11,000-£25,000 for the UK (prospects). We strongly encourage all students to undertake a paid placement and will only advertise paid placement opportunities on our vacancy board: King’s CareerConnect.

*International Management BSc students are required to complete either a year in industry or study abroad year in order to graduate.

In order to undertake a year in industry in your third year, you must:

Be enrolled on a 4-year degree programme
Have achieved an average of a 2:2 in your first year*
Have secured your own placement by May of your second year.

*Not applicable to students on the International Management BSc course

All students are responsible for securing their own placement and such opportunities can never guaranteed, however our dedicated Global Placements Team provides extensive support and advice.
