Borough High Street Redevelopment

King’s won ‘Built Winner 2017’ in the Hotels & Hospitality category of the New London Architecture (NLA) awards for its development of the hotel on Borough High Street.

King’s College London worked on an award-winning scheme to regenerate part of the Borough High Street area, to create a vibrant contribution to the function and character of the high street.

The project completed in early 2017 and King’s won ‘Built Winner 2017’ in the Hotels & Hospitality category of the New London Architecture (NLA) awards. The hotel was designed on behalf of King’s by LTS Architects and was one of 32 winning schemes in a shortlist of more than 150 projects.

The university owns units 127-143 Borough High Street, often known as the Shoefayre site, and a small section of the area connecting to the buildings of Guy’s Campus. Southwark Council granted planning permission for the scheme which makes use of the historic Spur Inn Yard and Nag’s Head Yard to create and improved public realm and better access to the university’s main Guy’s Campus.
