Research & Impact
The King’s Technology Evaluation Centre (KiTEC) is part of the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering and carries out health technology assessment (HTA) for medical devices, including AI-enabled tools, and specialises in early developer-focused HTA and early health economic modelling. We work closely with qualitative researchers, health economists and trial statisticians across King’s Health Partners. KiTEC has been in receipt of contracts from NICE medical technology assessment committee since 2014-2025, and in 2020, we were selected to become an Evaluation Partner for the Accelerated Access Collaborative/NIHR AI in Health and Care Awards, a large scale, multi-million NHS funded programme that aims at accelerating the testing and evaluation of the most promising AI technologies for national roll out.
Typical activities include process evaluation through detailed clinical pathway mapping and stakeholder engagement exercises, and early health economic modelling primarily from an NHS perspective to generate evidence to cover all domains described in NICE Evidence Standards Framework for Digital Health Technologies.
