Centre for Gene Therapy & Regenerative Medicine

Our researchers are interested in how stem cells interact with their local environment, or niche. We believe that an understanding of these interactions is important for developing effective cell therapies in the clinic.

Based in Guy’s Hospital, the Centre acts as a focus for cutting-edge stem cell research taking place across King’s and its partner NHS Trusts, as part of King’s Health Partners.

Our research environment is enriched by expertise in pluripotent and adult tissue stem cells and includes researchers studying a range of diseases such as diabetes, skin fibrosis and acute liver failure.

One of the Centre’s innovative features is the ‘Stem Cell Hotel’ that provides dedicated laboratory space for collaborative studies of genotype/phenotype interactions in cells from healthy individuals and disease cohorts.
