Professor Kim Wolff MBE appointed to lead King's Forensics

We are delighted to announce that Professor Kim Wolff  has been appointed Professor of Analytical, Forensic & Addiction Sciences, Director of King’s Forensics and Head of the Drug Control Centre.

Professor Wolff completed her PhD at the University of Leeds in 1990, investigating the pharmacokinetics (how drugs move within the body) of methadone in heroin dependent drug addicts. She was awarded funding from the Medical Research Council to continue her work at Leeds with pregnant substance misusers before moving to King’s in 1997 to take up a lectureship in the National Addiction Centre, Institute of Psychiatry.

Professor Wolff joins the School of Population Health & Environmental Sciences from the Department of Pharmacy, School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences where her research has focussed on novel analytical methods for drug screening and biological markers for high risk drink-drivers. She chaired the government’s technical panel on drug-driving ahead of the introduction of the new legislation and continues to advise on the effects of drink and drugs on driving. In recognition of this work Professor Wolff was awarded an MBE for services to road safety in 2016.

Professor Wolff, who takes up the role on Monday 3 September, said:
