Pharmacology Honorary Fellowship award

Congratulations to Professor Sue Brain who was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the British Pharmacology Society (BPS) last month, the highest honour given by the BPS for services to and research in Pharmacology.

Professor Brain is Head of Vascular Biology, School of Cardiovascular Medical Sciences and joined King’s in 1989 – the same year she was recipient of the BPS Sandoz prize for her scientific contributions to pharmacology.  Throughout her career she has published over 180 research publications and been involved in the study of microcirculation since the early 1980s. Amongst her many roles she was Vice President of the British Pharmacology Society of Academic Affairs (2003-2009) and was involved in developing the BPS Advanced Diploma in Pharmacology.

The award was presented by the President of the Society, Professor Steve Hill at a Gala dinner on 19 December.  Professor Brain commented:  

‘I am delighted to receive an Honorary Fellowship from the BPS. It is a great Society, which I am proud to belong to and contribute to. The BPS has also played a role in my research over the years. Most recently this has been through the AJ Clark prize studentship awarded to Xenia Kodji to carry out her PhD in my group.’
