International Women's Day 2019

Today, Friday 8 March 2019, is International Women’s Day. The theme this year is #BalanceforBetter, and we’ll be sharing how #WomenOfKings in the Faculty embody this.

Tosan Okubule is the Lead Practice Development Nurse for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Pre-Registration Nursing Team, and the Course Lead for our Work-Based Learning module Anaesthetic Nursing Course. She explains her passion for professional development and how’s she’s moved into this area in her career.

Tomorrow the Department of Midwifery will be supporting Oxytocin: Mothering the World, a Procreate Project in collaboration with Birth Rites Collection, which is hosted by the Faculty. The one day event features a rich programme of performances and live art with discussion panels and workshops.

2018 saw the Centenary of Cicely Saunders, the founder of the modern hospice movement. Cicely Saunders developed the concept that end-of-life environments should pay attention to people’s social, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. Read more about Cicely.
