Research Challenge Fund - successful applicants in round one
Earlier this year the Faculty launched a new internal research funding scheme open to all staff within Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. The scheme was launched to support short term projects to be completed by the end of July 2018 that will lead to the development of external grant applications, significant four-star research papers and contribute to increased impact. The Research Challenge Fund received 12 applications in total and five were selected for funding.
The successful applicants and their projects are:
Annmarie Grealish - Development of school-based youth peer mentoring intervention to improve mental health£15,000
Rita Forde - Pre-pregnancy care experiences for women with type 2 diabetes: ideation framework development £9,900
Janet Anderson - Developing a new systems framework to improve analysis of Never Events £14,400
Sara Donetto - Educating for complexity: a feasibility study of co-designing inter-professional healthcare education £14,400
Valerie Brueton - Risk factors for caesarean section wound infection: A feasibility study £11,750
Reflecting on the process Valerie Brueton said that it her encouraged her to think about how her project fits with King’s Strategic Vision 2029 and the Faculty Education Programme.
Rita Forde was pleased to receive positive feedback from the panel which related to her theoretical approach. She will use the award to model an ideation framework and dialogue tool that will be piloted and refined to inform the submission of an external NIHR application later this year.
The second round of the Research Challenge Fund Round closed on Monday 16 April.
