Professor Glenn Robert and Doctor Sara Donetto collaborating on new £2.3 million research programme
Professor Glenn Robert, Chair in Healthcare Quality and Innovation, and Doctor Sara Donetto, Lecturer in the Adult Nursing Department in the Faculty are collaborators on a new £2.3 million programme grant that will be led by Professor Sofia Kjellström and colleagues at Jönköping University.
The six year programme grant award is for a project entitled: "Combining health and social care: exploring, measuring and improving co-production at national, regional and local levels". The aim is to explore, enhance and measure the value of co-production for improving the health and social care of citizens and focus on three fundamental issues: (a) measures of co-production processes and their outcomes, (b) mechanisms that enable inclusive and reciprocal co-production, and (c) management systems and styles.
The funding comes from Forte, a research council and a government agency under the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.
As part of the programme Professor Robert and Dr Donetto will also be working with a London-based third sector organisation, ‘We Coproduce’. The programme has a strong capacity building element, with four post-doctoral researchers and seven doctoral students in total. Two NIHR-funded PhD students from the Faculty, Sarah McAllister and Mary Tanay, will soon be attending a research retreat in Sweden with their Swedish counterparts as part of the collaboration. A two year post-doctoral research position in the Faculty will be advertised shortly to support Professor Robert and Dr Donetto.
Jönköping University has invested in a Centre for Co-production within the Jönköping Academy for Improvement of Health & Welfare and will provide approximate matched funding. The Academy is a founding member of The International Coproduction of Health Network and involved in other international research collaborations. Professor Robert has a part-time Chair at Jönköping Academy.
