Adult Nursing student is selected as Nursing Times Student Editor

Kate Forsyth, a third year BSc Adult Nursing student, has recently been appointed one of the Nursing Times’ Student editors.

Kate will be publishing regular blogs over the next twelve months on the Nursing Times website. She will be sharing her thoughts on her time at King’s, nursing education and policy, and her views on the nursing profession.

Kate said:
“I’m just so passionate about nursing and I don’t think nurses get much credit at times. I wanted to shine a light on all the great things us student nurses do. Too often the nursing profession gets bad press, it’s simply not fair. We do such a great and important job so why not talk about the issues that affect us and those we care for the most? I think now is such an important time for nursing so I feel quite lucky to have been given this opportunity.”

She was inspired to apply for the role to help student nurses have a voice, and write about and share the challenges they face, as well as celebrating their successes. She also wants to talk about issues which aren’t as widely discussed, such as palliative care and mental and sexual health.

Kate will be writing an article for the Nursing Times every six weeks, alongside five other student editors from across the UK, studying different branches of nursing. Read her first article here.
