King's College London have launched a MOOC called 'Understanding NHS Values: Becoming a Nurse or Midwife'
The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London, have launched a MOOC called ‘Understanding NHS Values: Becoming a Nurse or Midwife.’
Registration is open until Monday 28 November when the course starts.
This is a free online course for anyone looking to apply to become a nurse or midwife, and will help participants gain an understanding of the values and ethics of working within a healthcare environment. Specially designed with academic staff, and input from students in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, the course uses a mixture of articles, and interviews with academics and students to explore the NHS values underpinning healthcare delivery.
All participants will be required to dedicate two hours of their time to the course per week, over the course of two weeks.
The multiple mini interviews, which are used as part of the selection process for pre-registration nursing and midwifery programmes have been developed using the NHS values, so an understanding of these will provide helpful preparation for the selection day and students’ future studies.
Throughout the course, participants will be encouraged to reflect upon their own beliefs and values in preparation for their application to study nursing or midwifery.
Register for a place on this course by Monday 28 November on the Future Learn website.
