Faculty research fellow appointed as president-elect of national BANCC organisation

TeofilaTootie (Teofila) Bueser, a Clinical Doctoral Research Fellow within the Adult Nursing Department, has been appointed President of the British Association for Nursing in Cardiovascular Care (BANCC).

BANCC is a national forum for communication, development and representation for nurses involved in the care of cardiovascular patients.

BANCC is an affiliate group of the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) which is a professional group for GPs, nurses and health professionals across the UK.

Having previously served on the BANCC Council as Junior Secretary and Honorary Secretary, Tootie will use her leadership to promote excellence in nursing care and enhance the development of nursing roles and research within this speciality.

On being nominated as President of BANCC, she said: “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed President-elect of BANCC. I will do my utmost to enhance the profile of cardiovascular nurses and maximise the resources available for learning and development so we can deliver excellent patient care.”

Tootie will be an active participant in the Council for Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied professions of the European Society of Cardiology, and on the BCS Council, to foster international collaborations and multi-disciplinary working.

Tootie is currently undertaking a PhD on 'improving the uptake of cardiac screening and genetic testing in at-risk family members for inherited cardiac conditions' as part of her role as an NIHR/HEE Clinical Doctoral Research Fellow at King’s. She is also an honorary cardiac genetics nurse at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital.
