Perseverance Trust gift for nursing and midwifery

The Board of Trustees of the Perseverance Trust have agreed to award the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery £1.5 million following a proposal and presentation from us to support nursing and midwifery students in financial hardship.

The Trustees feel that the Faculty closely matches their original intentions to support nurses’ education and residential needs. As this was originally set up for the benefit of Nightingale nurses, the Trustees are glad that the faculty at King’s recognise and celebrate the provenance of the nursing faculty from the original Florence Nightingale School of Nursing at St Thomas’ Hospital.

With the support of the Fundraising & Supporter Development Office at King’s, a range of proposals to reduce student hardship were developed, based on using an expendable endowment. These include a student hardship fund, merit based scholarships for BSc and PG Diploma students and school based widening participation activities proposed by the Faculty.
