Academics collaborate on new health and arts book

The Oxford Textbook of Creative Arts, Health, and Wellbeing:  International perspectives on practice, policy, and research was recently published and includes a chapter by Ian Noonan (Lecturer, Mental Health Nursing) and Anne Marie Rafferty, Professor of Nursing Policy.

Their entry is an evaluation of the Faculty's Culture and Care Programme and calls for the inclusion of creative arts in nurse and midwifery education. They used participant evaluations of the Composer in Residence project and the Nightingale Choir as evidence to support this.

There is growing interest internationally in the contributions that the creative arts can make to wellbeing and health in both healthcare and community settings. A timely addition to the field, the Oxford Textbook of Creative Arts, Health, and Wellbeing is the first work of its kind to discuss the role the creative arts have in addressing some of the most pressing public health challenges faced today.
