King's Nursing Student wins Student Nursing Times Award 2014
Georgina Day, a third year, adult nursing student at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London, was named the winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Practice Placement Award at the 2014 Student Nursing Times awards ceremony, held at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 1 May 2014.
Georgina, who attended the ceremony with her parents and members of staff from the School and from St George’s Hospital, was presented with her award by Jane Cummings, NHS England's Chief Nursing Officer, and Jenny Middleton, Editor of Nursing Times.
The School had two students shortlisted for the award: Georgina and Alexandra Cromack.
Speaking after the awards ceremony, Professor Helen McCutcheon, Head of School, said, “We are proud and delighted that Georgina' and Alexandra’s contribution to clinical placement at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust has been recognised in this way. Having both students shortlisted is well deserved. Both have shown a tremendous capacity for learning and for being compassionate and caring when working with patients, and Georgina’s achievements in these areas have been commented on by many clinicians. I regularly get feedback from clinicians, patients and families about the care and attention they receive from our students. Having two students shortlisted for this award is really encouraging and we look forward to following both Georgina’s and Alexandra’s careers as they continue to develop.”
