School co-hosts BBC Round-table Discussion
On 24th July 2012, the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery co-hosted a debate with the Nursing and Care Quality Forum, for some of London’s key nurse leaders. BBC Health Correspondent, Jane Dreaper attended and chaired the event.
Discussing the topic “Nursing Education – Past, Present and Future: Implications for Care”, participants shared their views on how Higher Education Institutions and Healthcare Professionals can work together to ensure the future nursing workforce maintains high standards of care.
The Forum, which is chaired by Sally Brearley, Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the National Nursing Research Unit, and King’s alumna, has now moved into the second phase of their work and are looking to engage with wider groups of healthcare professionals and academics to discuss key issues facing nursing and recommendations on how to improve quality in the future.
The themes and suggestions from yesterday’s debate will be communicated to the Forum as part of phase two will shape future recommendations to Government about Nursing Quality.
