Multimedia services at the Maughan Library
We’ve listened to your feedback and made a number of improvements to our multimedia facilities at the Maughan Library:
- 2 new group study rooms GS3 and GS4 (bookable desks in room GS3) and additional study spaces.
- New group viewing facilities with 3 multi-region Blu-ray players, 43” screens and Sennheiser headphones.
- Refreshed individual viewing facilities for Blu-ray and DVD conveniently located next to the film collection.
- 4 new midi keyboards with sound cards and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones.
- Additional student computers, including one connected to the large midi keyboard, with access to Sibelius.
We’ve also improved your resources:
- We’re buying more films on DVD and Blu-ray.
- More flexible 24-hour rolling loans for films and scores have been introduced.
- VHS copies have been replaced with DVDs where available.
- Added more copies of core ‘not for loan’ films, so they’re available to watch in the library.
- We’ve made a selection of films available online via Kanopy.
- Working on making DVDs easier to find by rearranging them into a single sequence, and easier to access by getting rid of locked cases.
- Music recordings and scores have been collated together on one floor.
- Made the King’s Sound Archive collection of 150,000 78rpm records discoverable in Library Search.
We’re introducing a new tailored library skills course:
‘Accessing Key Library Resources for Film and Music’
LIB234: 4 December, 11.00-12.30
