New partnership with Reed Smith on Anglo-French LLB programme

The Dickson Poon School of Law is proud to announce the strengthening of a partnership with Reed Smith and Paris Sorbonne. In this unique collaboration, students will be able to complete a four year degree while, in tandem, gaining support and the opportunity for work placements provided by Reed Smith’s London and Paris offices.

The School operates a joint LLB / Master 1 programme with the Université Paris 1 Panthéon – Sorbonne. The programme leads to two separate degrees which permit students to qualify for the legal professions in both France and England & Wales.

The degree is structured so that students spend their first two years in London (at King’s) and the second two years in Paris (at the Sorbonne), thereby benefiting from top academics and practitioners in both locations.

Dr Eva Steiner, Director LLB in English Law and French Law at King’s, said:  ‘Not only is this new partnership innovative in its design and purpose, it will also significantly enhance students’ experience in terms of legal training and job opportunities in the UK, France and Europe.’

Marc Fredj, partner in Reed Smith’s Paris office, said: ‘Our teams in Paris and London have worked together to identify points during the four-year course where students need some extra support and guidance, whether they wish to develop their careers in Paris or London. The Sorbonne and King’s College London are both incredibly well-reputed universities. This new partnership is an exciting opportunity for us to formalise our close working relationship with them.’

Kalish Mullen, Anglo-French programme alumnus and trainee at Reed Smith’s London offices, said that the programme was a really unique experience of international learning and the partnership means that even more support will be provided on the ground, with Reed Smith presence in both Paris and London.
