In memoriam: Professor Oliver Black
The Dickson Poon School of Law is saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Oliver Black who was a Visiting Professor in Law for many years and closely associated with King’s Department of Philosophy.
Professor Black read Philosophy at Cambridge and received his PhD from the University of London. After a brief spell in academia, he joined Linklaters, the international law firm, where he was head of the UK procurement law practice. Throughout this period he kept in touch with academic life, publishing regularly and was appointed a Visiting Research Professor at King’s in 2000. He also taught at Cambridge and was a fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.
Professor Black was the author of Conceptual Foundations of Antitrust (CUP, 2005) and Agreements: A Philosophical and Legal Study (CUP, 2012).
Executive Dean Professor Gillian Douglas said: ‘We send our sincere condolences to Professor Black’s family and give thanks for the contribution he has made to the School and to King’s during his time as Visiting Professor.’
