Postgraduate scholarship opportunities

students454x170The Dickson Poon School of Law would like to proudly announce its new postgraduate scholarships, including 16 full LLM scholarships.

The Yeoh Tiong Lay LLM Law Scholarship Programme

The Yeoh Tiong Lay LLM Scholarship Programme offers prestigious scholarships to outstanding new Law students starting their studies at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London.

The scholarships form part of a larger £7 million gift to set up a new research-based Centre for Politics, Philosophy & Law. The gift, from the family of Malaysian alumnus Dato' Mark Yeoh, will further build King’s reputation as a dynamic international centre for legal teaching and research in the heart of London. The £7 million gift is establishling, through endowment, three new posts in The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London – a Chair (£3.5m), two Lectureships (£1.5m each) and £500,000 for 16 full LLM scholarships.

Four scholarships will be available annually. Of the four scholarships available each year, one is reserved for Malaysian residents only otherwise they are open to all applicants.

The scholarships will cover the cost of  tuition fees for the year, and also provide a £10,000 contribution to living costs whilst students are studying. 

Applicants will be selected on the basis of proven academic excellence and an essay and personal statement. Applicants must have firmly accepted their offer of a place to study the one year LLM Law programme at King’s.

The Bosco Tso and Emily Ng Scholarship Programme

King’s is delighted to announce the launch of the Bosco Tso and Emily Ng Scholarship Programme. The generous gift, from alumnus Mr Bosco Tso, has been established to support students who wish to study law at King’s. This fund is intended to give students the opportunity to further their legal careers in an internationally recognised centre of excellence.  

For 2014-15 one scholarship of £22,500 will be available. The scholarship is open to all applicants.

The scholarships are worth £22,500 and are intended to cover the cost of your tuition fees for the year, and also provide a contribution to your living costs whilst you are studying.

Applicants will be selected on the basis of a personal statement as well as demonstrable financial need.  Applicants must have firmly accepted their offer of a place to study the one year LLM Law programme at King’s.

Nigerian Law Scholars Fund

In addition, this will be the second year that the Nigerian Law Scholars Fund is available.

The award has been established by a friend of the College who would like to support residents of Nigeria who wish to study law at King’s. This fund is intended to give students the opportunity to further their legal careers in an internationally recognised centre of excellence.  

For 2014-15 one scholarship of £25,000 will be available. This fund is open to Nigerian residents only.

The scholarships are worth £25,000 and are intended to cover the cost of your tuition fees for the year, and also provide a contribution to your living costs whilst you are studying.

Applicants will be selected on the basis of a personal statement as well as demonstrable financial need.  Applicants must have firmly accepted their offer of a place to study the one year LLM Law programme at King’s.

College-wide PGT scholarships

As well as the scholarships offered by the School, the College is pleased to launch three new scholarship schemes, including one specifically for King’s alumni, effective immediately for incoming 2014-2015 postgraduate taught students. In total, the new schemes represent a generous investment in postgraduate taught programmes with £450,000 worth of new funding. Over 170 scholarships will be awarded for Home, EU and Overseas PGT students who meet the criteria. Awards range from £2,000 to £10,000.
