Cian-MKing’s Academic to Offer Experiential Learning Course

The Center of Transnational Legal Studies, a unique partnership in legal education,will next year see Dr Cian Murphy of The Dickson Poon School of Law offer an innovative experiential learning course on European Human Rights Advocacy.

Dr Murphy will work with Nuala Mole of The Advice on Individual Rights in Europe (AIRE) Centre to lead the course in which students will undertake internships at the Centre alongside seminars at CTLS to prepare them for their work. The students will work side-by-side with AIRE Centre lawyers on different projects in European human rights law.

Speaking about the course, Dr Murphy said:“We are delighted to offer this new opportunity for students at CTLS next year.Our students can take advantage of our location in the heart of legal London togain practical experience as part of their degree. This course, a first for CTLS, opens a new dimension in legal education for our students.”

The AIRE Centre’s work involves litigation before the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice as well as advisory work on human rights for governments and civil society across Europe.

Dr Murphy will serve as Academic Co-Directorat CTLS for the 2014/2015 academic year and will also offer courses on The Rule of Law Under Globalisation and An Introduction to Transnational Law and Governance.

The Dickson Poon School of Law is a founding partner of CTLS and King’s students may attend CTLS to earn the LLB in Law with Transnational Legal Studies.
