Multiphoton microscopy: applications and innovation - a multiphoton symposium

Bringing together users and experts in laser microscopy, a symposium entitled "Multiphoton microscopy: innovation and application’ was organised by Robert Knight, Claire Mitchell and Simon Ameer-Beg from King’s College London on 13th July at the Guy's Campus.  Over 50 participants were treated to a selection of talks from eminent speakers from London and further afield on the development of various advanced microscopy techniques including FLIM and RAMP.

Zeiss and Coherent presented short technobites highlighting new microscopy and laser developments and plenary speaker Gail McConnell (University of Strathclyde) spoke on the development of several new lasers for multiphoton microscopy and debuted images from her "mesolens".

The symposium was jointly hosted by the Dental Institute and Comprehensive Cancer Studies and financial support was from Zeiss, Coherent, Laser 2000 and Photometrics.

The symposium was organised to bring together the scattered multiphoton microscopy community from King’s and around London. It also provided an opportunity to publicise results from using a bespoke multicolour multiphoton microscope funded by a Wellcome Trust grant to Dr. Knight and managed by Dr. Mitchell.
