welfare page logo tiles-01King's Residences provide an in-house team of Welfare Leads at every residence. The Welfare Leads are specially trained staff or postgraduate students that live alongside you in your residence and are on hand to support you during your stay in halls.

welfare page logo tiles-02Your Welfare Leads can be contacted directly via text, phone, email or at regular drop-in sessions, or you can ask your Reception team for guidance in how to reach them. You can choose how to contact them depending on what makes you most comfortable – whether that’s a cup of tea in your kitchen or a meeting over Microsoft Teams.

It is normal to go through difficult periods and face challenges whilst at University, and they are here to provide wellbeing support if that happens to you. They are also trained to support and assist you with accessing more specialised help if you need it, such as mental health services, academic support and more.

Further residences wellbeing support

In complex or very vulnerable situations, the Residence Welfare Leads may ask the Residences Wellbeing Manager or Welfare Officer to become involved with their students to enhance and escalate the support they need. Both Wellbeing Manager and Welfare Officer work in the central Residences Management team and are available Monday-Friday between 9am – 5pm. They have worked in Student Residences for a long time and are experienced in supporting students in crisis and helping them to get the help that they need to succeed at University.

We also have a bespoke Residences Welfare Policy where you can find out more about how residences are committed to supporting and safeguarding you during your stay.

Student conduct

We work hard in King’s Residences to create an inclusive environment where students feel safe and supported. We expect all of our students to do the same and show respect and kindness towards your fellow flatmates, peers and staff at the College. We operate a 0-tolerance policy to disrespectful behaviour of any kind, including bullying, harassment and any kind of discriminatory or offensive behaviour. It is our community responsibility to take a stand to end bullying and harassment, and we encourage you to report any instances to your Reception team, Welfare Lead or directly to welfare@kcl.ac.uk.

We also have a bespoke Residences Disciplinary Policy where you can find out more about how residences are committed to providing a safe environment during your stay.
