Module description

English Grammar builds on analytical skills learnt in Year 1 which illuminated grammatical form. It does this by taking a functional approach. Using Systemic Functional Grammar, where the role of grammar in meaning-making is emphasised, the module will enable you to deepen your understanding of how texts communicate as well as to facilitate your evaluation of their communicative effectiveness. This module provides students with both the functional tools and theoretical frameworks to develop evidence based accounts of written language.

Assessment details
