Module description

The aim of the module is to provide an introduction to the principles of telecommunication networks architectures, the the technical vocabulary of telecommunications networks; technical problems in telecommunications networks: analysis and solutions. The module will serve as a basis for further advance topics in telecommunication networks and the Internet.

Learning outcomes

This module provides background in the area of computer and telecommunication networking by introducing the concept of standards and layering and going through the layered architecture of the TCP/IP protocol stack and studying in details the operation of example protocols at each layer.
