Module description
This module explores the practice of leadership and innovation across a range of professional and public spheres. We will engage with academic debates on authority and power, as well as charismatic leadership and innovation, drawing on contemporary case studies and the experiences of leadership exemplars. The module features guest speakers leading in a range of fields that may include business, law, politics, journalism, academia, civil service, religious organisations, and social movements. It is designed for students who wish to critically examine leadership and innovation in action and who wish to develop their own leadership capacities—in professional careers, community initiatives, and beyond.
This module is a level-5 optional module in the department of Theology and Religious Studies. Unlike many other modules in the department, this one is practically oriented. Assignments will encourage students to reflect on their own leadership journey, engaging with both academic insights and real-world leadership experiences. Through critical reflection and applied learning, the module offers a platform for students to assess their current involvements, envision their next steps, and learn from both leadership scholarship and the insights of experienced leaders.
