Briefly, could you tell us about your background and career before joining King’s?
Prior to joining NMPC, I worked at Warwick Business School in the Teaching and Learning Enhancement team. My role focused on delivering business MBA and DLMBA modules to Postgraduate students.
What has been your career progression since joining the Faculty?
I joined as a Programme Officer in the Assessments Team in June 2022, by May 2023 I was successful in starting my role as interim Senior Programmes Officer (overseeing PG and PQ programmes) before being made permanent in January 2024!
How did you find it moving roles within the Faculty, what support and encouragement have you had from colleagues and managers?
Being fully transparent, I found the move from Programme Officer to Senior Programme Officer challenging at first - it was completely new and felt a little scary! However, the unwavering support from my team and wider team meant that I felt fully supported, believed in, and provided with the tools to develop my knowledge and skills. I really think it was the unwavering belief that my team members had in me, that made me fully believe in myself.
What would you say to someone looking to develop and grow within the Faculty but unsure about where to start?
Make the jump! It certainly felt daunting to me and I was unsure if I should, but sometimes it takes some bravery and a step into the unknown to show yourself what you are capable of. That of course, along with the support of family, friends and the Faculty! I definitely sought advice from all angles – I would encourage anyone who’s interested in progressing in some way, to utilise the resources around you. The Faculty provides excellent opportunities for training and development so if you're not sure where to look for these, ask your colleagues as they may have done them already! I love a personal recommendation when it comes to these things. Basically, my advice is to talk to people.
What is your favourite thing about working at King’s?
The people! I have met some of the best people I know here.
What do you do with your time outside of work?
Explore, eat good food, spend time with my partner and friends, hunt for the best almond croissant. For those wondering, the number one almond croissant is currently Greensmiths (a café down Lower Marsh).
