Exhibition curator: Shelley de Kock
Illustration of the skull by Pieter Paaw
Illustration of the skull by Pieter Paaw (1564-1617), the first Professor of Anatomy in Leiden from : Aulus Cornelius Celsus. De re medica liber octavio. Leiden: Colster, 1616.

This is a virtual representation of an exhibition of books from the King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry historical collection housed in the Foyle Special Collections Library, that ran from 10 June 2003 to 18 July 2003 in the Weston Room, Maughan Library, Chancery Lane.

The library of King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry was started in 1839 with the opening of King's College Hospital and was established to serve the interests of the medical department. The historical collection contains many books from the original foundation collection of the library and covers the history of medicine from the time of Hippocrates to the turn of the 20th century, as well as including items related to the history of the King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The online cataloguing and conservation of this collection has been made possible by the Research Resources in Medical History grant scheme, a programme jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and the British Library.
