Social Activity at King's

BeActive is the social and recreational activity programme available to all students and staff at King’s College London.

Across our staff and student timetables, we offer a variety of activities every week to ensure that there is something out there for you.

No commitment is needed, so it’s up to you if you want to try a different activity each week or become a regular to your favourite session. All activities are non-competitive and inclusive, so everyone can participate regardless of experience or ability.

Purchasing Memberships

Due to moving to a new Leisure Management System, purchasing memberships will be unavailable from Friday, 14 November to Tuesday, 18 November. Membership will be available to purchase from Wednesday, 19 November, once our new system has gone live.

Updates:

  • From 10–21 October and 3–17 November, sessions scheduled at Borough Academy will be relocated. Please double-check the location when booking.
  • A new session has been added to the Student timetable: Badminton at Borough Academy on Tuesdays from 17:00-18:00.

Book sessions

You can only book if you have a membership. If you don't have a membership, please see the drop down lists below.

You will need to activate your membership (whether it's a Halls, Standard, Club Recreational, Staff) before you try and book an activity.

Please note if a session is not showing up on our booking system; this means that it is either fully-booked or not going ahead.

 

 

 

 

BeActive Session Locations

Membership and signing up

If you are a student and do not live in a King’s Halls of Residence, BeActive membership is just £35 for the whole academic year.

This will give you full access to our timetable, campus classes and BeActive sessions.

Once you’ve purchased your membership you can use the booking widget above to start signing up to sessions!

We also offer a session pass to our BeActive sessions for £3 per session.

This membership will give staff of King’s unlimited access to both the BeActive staff timetable. Once you’ve purchased your membership you can use the booking widget above to start signing up to sessions! Please note there is a £2.00 set up fee.

FAQs

Absolutely no problem. BeActive sessions are geared towards trying sports non-competitively, regardless of your level of experience or fitness. However with swimming there is no coach present, and you must be able to swim competently as this is just a drop in swim session.

To see for yourself, just come along to the next session and get involved.

You can use the booking widget above to buy your membership, or session pass, register your account and book classes!

We provide sports equipment, such as yoga mats, tennis racquets and footballs, however feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Sign into your account in the widget above where you can cancel classes and manage your bookings. Please make sure you cancel any activity bookings at least 5 hours in advance to allow other people to book in your place.

The BeActive timetables run through these dates:

Term 1 - 11 weeks

Starts Monday 29 September 2025 until Sunday 13 December 2025

Please note there is reduced timetable running during reading week: Monday 28 October until Friday 1 November
Term 2 - 11 weeks

Starts Monday 19 January 2026 until Sunday 23 March 2026

Please note there is reduced timetable running during reading week: Monday 23 February until Sunday 27 February

Term 3 - 5 weeks

Starts Tuesday 5 May until Sunday 7 June 2026

Activities still take place over reading weeks at a reduced timetable, however, are not available for booking on Bank Holidays.

The BeActive Staff timetable runs year-round, except for a 2–3-week break over the Winter Holidays and operates on a reduced timetable during the summer. Activities do not take place on Bank Holidays.
